Recipe: Simple Bread Rolls!

Want to know how to cook the basics? Then first off, you’ll need to know how to make a simple bread roll!

Ingredients:

  • 240ml of warm water
  • 415g of flour
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 ½ teaspoons yeast
  • 1 egg (optional, for egg wash)

Cooking:

Believe it or not, making delicious bread rolls is easier than you may think! First off, you’ll want to combine your water, honey, salt, yeast and flour in a large bowl. Once the ingredients have been mixed, you’ll have to knead the mixture for roughly 10/15 minutes until the dough feels slightly elastic. Once you’ve done this, transfer the dough into another bowl which you have oiled to ensure that the mixture doesn’t stick. Next, cover the bowl with a towel or plastic wrap and let rise for one hour until the dough has doubled in size. While you’re doing this, make sure that the oven is preheated to 190˚C.

Once your dough has risen, cut it into 8 equal portions and using your hands shape them into small balls and evenly distribute them on a greased tray. Cover for an additional 30 minutes and allow them to again double in size. After the 30 minutes, uncover brush with an egg wash before baking for 15 minutes, or until the tops are golden brown!
