Pyotr Verzilov, one of four members of feminist protest Russian punk rock group Pussy Riot, is in hospital after suspected poisoning. He was sent to Berlin on Saturday night for emergency treatment.
German doctors at the Charite hospital in Berlin suggest it is “highly probable” that he was poisoned as his early symptoms included loss of vision and being unable to walk or talk.
Mr. Verzilovs collapsed on Tuesday after he and three other Pussy Riot members had served a 15-day jail sentence for invading the pitch during the World Cup final in Moscow to protest against excessive Russian police powers.
Cinema for Peace Foundation is responsible for organising Mr. Verzilov’s transportation to Berlin.
Pyotr Verzilov is famous for being a member of the anti-Kremlin scenes and has been involved in protests in Russia.
The group also protested at the Winter Olympics in Sochi, where they were attacked by security guards, and they also anticipated Donald Trump’s victory in the 2016 US election.
