President Donald Trump is currently facing nation wide backlash after photos and video images of children in separation camps surfaced all over the media.
Several images of children in metal cages have been posted online and on television, sleeping on cots and in some cases, sleeping on floor mats with foil covers. This is a result of Trumps immigration policy to separate families at the American border.
Though Trump continues to defend his policies, it is very apparent that Americans are unhappy with it’s execution, as outrage swept across the nation upon discovery of what is being done.
Trump met with the GOP on Tuesday, discussing his principles on immigration and said he “wanted to take care of the kids”, referring to the familiy separation, according to the Washington Post. Trump was quoted as saying, “We need to figure this out….It’s a sad situation.”
The U.S. President asked that House Republicans fix the immigration system, however failed to provide a plan as to how the House should go about it, especially concerning the separation of migrant families.
“There’s a storm brewing off the coast here, and if we don’t handle this in the next four or five days, this could stick all the way through November,” said Mark Walker, chairman of the Republican Study Committee. “It’s not a political issue. It’s what’s right and what’s wrong.”
As of now, there are no known plans or resolutions, and it doesn’t appear that Trump and his administration are making any moves to change his separation policy.
