Popstars set to perform in the “One World: Together at Home” Global Citizen Concert

With live performances being put on hold due to the spread of coronavirus, stars are coming together to livestream concerts to support healthcare workers. Tara Pilkington reports.

Global Citizen and the World Health Organization have joined together for a night of iconic musical performances to show support for healthcare workers across the globe currently on the frontlines fighting coronavirus.

On Saturday 18 April, the organisations will present One World: Together At Home which is set to feature a star-studded host of performers for an unforgettable performance.

Global Citizen explained in a statement that:
“It’s a historic, first-of-its-kind glocal broadcast event to celebrate the heroic efforts of community health workers, and to support the World Health Organisation in the global fight to end COVID-19. Viewers around the world can take action by visiting www.globalcitizen.org/togetherathome to call on corporations, governments, and philanthropists to fund critical global COVID-19 response efforts, including support for frontline healthcare workers.”

BBC One is set to run the program on Sunday 19 April, and will feature artists that have been hand picked and curated by Lady Gaga including Idris and Sabrina Elba, J Balvin, John Legend, Kacey Musgraves, Lizzo, Paul McCartney and Stevie Wonder.

The event will also feature special appearances from healthcare workers who will share their experiences in fighting coronavirus.
