PM Boris inclines towards a no-deal Brexit

PM Boris Johnson is against the UK being locked in the EU’s orbit but Tories urge him to strike a deal. Anika Khan reports.

PM Boris Johnson has warned the ministers against a strong possibility of a no-deal Brexit over his concern that the deal might lock UK in the EU’s orbit. Senior Tories are urging him to reconsider and come to a mutual agreement.

Boris and the European commission chief, Ursula von der Leyen had a three-hour summit where they failed to bridge major gaps between them. Boris then planned to fly down to Paris to have a face-to-face chat with other EU leaders

He expressed that the offers placed by the European Union were unacceptable and that it is unlikely for the UK to agree on a free trade deal.

He said, “It’s a way of keeping the UK kind of locked in the EU’s … regulatory orbit.”

On Thursday he added, that there is a strong possibility for the UK to have an Australian relationship with the EU than a Canadian relationship with the EU.
