The Peter Tatchell Foundation speaks out for Human Rights and works strongly with the LGBT+ community. The foundation’s main focus is raising awareness, understanding, protection of human rights. This foundation is now a registered charity and its success begins with the kindess of supporters.
According to the Peter Tatchell Foundation, not only are homophobic countries an affront to global human rights but is also damaging to the economies of the homophobic countries, starting the hashtag #HomophobiaCosts.
Anti LGBT+ countries are bad for the economy, the report highlights that how the 71 countries that still criminalise homosexuality are losing out on the economic advantages that the more progessive nations are enjoying such as tourism, aid and investment and the economic power of LGBT+ citizens.
The foundation hopes to diminish hate crimes, discrimination against the LGBT+ community by detailing the damaging effects of our economies. Many countries that punish the community through jail time, denied access to country or the death penalty may notice drastic changes to their economy. 71 countries criminalise homosexuality and 39 of those are in the Commonwealth.
