Northern Ireland’s first socially distanced music festival ‘Unlocked’ is set to debut on August, reports Anika Khan

The organizers of Stendhal festival are hosting this event following the cancellation of Stendhal 2020 and is billed of being the first festival of its kind in the history of Northern Ireland. Those attending will experience performances from some of the best well-known talents that Ireland has to offer.
The event that will take place over 20 acres of countryside and is scheduled to be held at Ballymully Cottage Farm in Limavady. Although it is scheduled to be held across two weekends, the organizers are hoping the festival to continue till August and grasp an audience of 500 to 1000 people each weekend.
Stendhal has published the layout plan to create a safe and socially distanced environment for its staffs and the attendees. There is an adhering two-meter distancing rule, limitations in alcohol intake and thermal checkpoints.
The organizers have also reported that they have liaised with the local council, police, fire and ambulance services to ensure the coverage of every possible eventuality related to health and safety.
Festival Director, Ross Parkhill, said: “We are confident that we have come up with an event plan that will make going to outdoor music events safer than going to the supermarket”. He states that since the festival will be held outdoor, they will have a huge space to abide by the social distancing measures.
