Nottingham County Council has developed a website that promotes safer sexual relationships and provides health advice to young people.
Young people have been actively involved in the design and content creation for the new website.
“We are very pleased that young people, through the Young People’s Board, have been involved in this initiative to ensure the right information and advice that young people want is included on the new website”, said Councillor Tracey Taylor, Vice-Chair of the Children and Young People’s Committee at Nottinghamshire County Council.
This new website is part of a wider campaign that will include posters on public transport and public spaces to further promote the C-Card scheme.
The C-Card scheme’s main objective is to provide young people with a free and confidential advice service where they can consult more experienced adults and experts on matters of sex, relationships and sexually transmitted diseases and infections.
“This campaign will further raise the profile of the C-Card scheme to young people, offer them vital support and signpost them to relevant public health services”, said Councillor Stuart Wallace, Chairman of the Adult Social Care and Public Health Committee at Nottinghamshire County Council.
On the website, young people across Nottinghamshire will be able to access a virtual map where they can find the locations where this free and confidential advice and condom service is available.
Locations range from places young people might frequent like youth centres, colleges and school, to health centres, GP practices or pharmacies.
The C-Card scheme is funded by Public Health and managed by Nottinghamshire County Council’s Youth Service.
The website is ccardnottinghamshire.co.uk
