Netflix Releases Official 'The Rain' Trailer

Netflix has dropped a full-length trailer for its Danish-made horror drama The Rain, showing us what life is like in a world were water from the sky killed millions of people.
In the trailer we see a brutal and deadly virus that is spread via rainfall and contaminates an entire city. Two siblings, Simone and her younger brother, Ramus are put in a bunker to hide from the deadly moisture while their father tells Simeone to stay and watch Ramus. Their father then leaves their kids in a bunker in the middle of the woods.
From there, the trailer jumps forward six years. The kids are now adults, eager to find out what is happening outside. They meet another group of survivors. The world changes for them when they encounter another group of young survivors, with whom they find kinship, romance and the desire to carry on in the face of a brutal new world.
It seems like any contact with water in open air can still be potentially dangerous. Based on the scientist dad’s line in the trailer, Rasmus might have some kind of special immunity to the virus that’s decimated the country.
“It’s not just surviving,” one of the kids says in the trailer. “It’s about hope.”
The series, manifesting as Netflix’s first original production for Denmark, will arrive after the streaming giant recently scored a subtitle-strewn hit with the German horror series, Dark.
The Rain’s cast includes several young stars breaking out onto the international stage, including Mikkel Følsgaard (A Royal Affair), Alba August and Lucas Lynggaard Tønnesen, as well as some familiar faces like Iben Hjejle (High Fidelity) and Lars Simonsen (The Bridge).
The episodes are set to drop on Netflix on 4 May.
