The Kachin Independence Army said that the military chopper was shot down for airstrikes earlier in the Kachin province this Monday. This happened in the country’s northern and eastern frontier regions intensified following an army coup.

REBELS have declared that this armed group had targeted and fired back after airstrikes near the town of Moemuk, in Kachin province. KIA said that this morning the chopper was brought down.

“The military council launched airstrikes in that area since around 8 or 9 this morning … using jet fighters and also fired shots using a helicopter, so we shot back at them,” KIA spokesman Naw Bu said.
