British Musician and poet Chas Hodges died at the age of 74 on 22 September, from organ failure. It came after the Chas and Dave star recently underwent successful treatment for oesophageal cancer.
The news of the musician and poet’s death was confirmed via the duo’s Twitter account. Tributes have been pouring in following the death of this singer-songwriter. In the post was written “It is with tremendous sadness that we announce the passing of our very own Chas Hodges. Despite receiving successful treatment for oesophageal cancer recently, Chas suffered organ failure and passed away peacefully in his sleep in the early hours of this morning.”
Fans and stars rushed to pay tribute to the late singer and TV star, following the sad news.
TV regular and comedian Rob Beckett told his 281,000 Twitter followers: “So sad. Such a legend. Together with Dave he wrote the soundtrack to my childhood. RIP Chas Hodges.”
In 2017, Hodges disclosed he had been diagnosed with cancer of the oesophagus. After his chemotherapy, he returned to perform with Dave last year, but canceled recent gigs on doctor’s advice.
