Refugee Week continues in the Midlands and in aid of this there will be another spectacular event for you to enjoy.
On Saturday 23 June there will be a musical gig taking place at The GAP in Birmingham. The doors will open from 7pm and the show will continue until 11pm, so if you love music and dancing and are free tomorrow evening then you know exactly where to go!
This particular gig was set up to mark the end of the very important Children in Movement project, which was organised in accordance with the Heritage Lottery Fund.
This particular movement was conceptualised to emphasise the experiences of young people who migrated to Birmingham from all over the world. It uses oral history to bring these interesting stories to life.
This event is therefore a celebratory gig to acknowledge the end of the project, and will therefore be an enjoyable evening of songs centred on migration. The music will encompass the folk style genre and will feature original material.
It will include Punk Folk singer and Poet Smut and Ire-ish, a 4 piece band of ‘sort of Irish lads’ from Birmingham. This is actually the band behind the ingenious ‘Fairytale of New Street’ video, which you are probably familiar with, seeing as it went viral .
Germa will also be present at the event, an artist specialising in violin performance, composition, and community development through music engagement.
