‘Geranium’ album by Equipe de Foot
Packed with 11 songs, the French duo, Equipe does demonstrate that they have what it takes to make an impact on music. With their new third album under their belt, this alternative rock duo knows how to tell a story or two, or more. Just listening to a handful of the tracks you’ll see just how great this singer-songwriting is.
‘Phenomena Of The Mind’ by Mieko Shimizu
London-based and originally from Japan, Mieko has been hard at work on the music scene for many years and has two albums under her belt. Not bad at all. Singing, her voice is reminiscent of the likes of Bjork and Alison Goldfrapp. From the moment she opens her mouth she grabs you with an almost ghost-like feel yet she manages to be lively at the same time. Her latest EP, Phenomena Of The Mind, is practically a work of genius. Have a listen
60s Paris on SON PARAPLUIE album by ISOBEL CAMPBELL, JAH WOBBLE, MARTIN CARR
A great work of art-rock by the French trio, Paris n’existe pas by Son Parapluie (which translates as Paris Does not Exist by My Umbrella). The album is a recall of swinging 60’s Paris, not bad a decade to look back on. Overall the EP is a mixture of art-house, sounds of 60’s of the French capital, and is consistent with upbeat riffs and drums along with front-woman’s Isobel Campbell’s voice which is gorgeous, captivating, haunting, and soothing all at the same time.
‘Stronger’ by Electronic Bodyguards
Dutch musical duo, Electronic Bodyguards, release their latest track, Stronger, and it does sound incredible. If I had to describe this song it would be a fusion mix of soul, electronica, and ambient sound complete with haunting female vocals that just seem to grab you and get you to listen with minimal effort required. These guys have been active within the music scene for 30 years and are definitely pros when it comes to making superb musical rhythms with astonishing cinematic-type sounds. Stronger is a testament to their genius.
