Music Monday: Top 5 songs of 2021

Our music editor Adam Humphries brings you the top 5 selections of songs from 2021. Make sure to add them to your playlist!

Adele – Easy on Me

Need I say anymore. We have not even heard from her for more than four years but not all that long ago she returns to the music charts with a new album and brilliant new single, Easy on Me, and what an absolute gem. Makes her absence all the more worth it.

Ewan McVicar – Tell Me Something Good

It is a great dance track and even received much airplay on British radio alone. Very upbeat, uplifting, and has a great accompanying bassline beat in the background. The lyrics themselves will have you singing along after a while. This is one of those songs that gets played that much to the point where you wonder if you’ll ever get sick of it, but after a few hours of respite you just end up enjoying it all over again.

Griff – Black Hole

A nice, groovy little dance/hip-hop number and Griff’s own singing voice alone is worth listening to, don’t be that surprised if you suddenly find yourself singing along at the main chorus. Black Hole is a nice, steady-paced song that gradually gains momentum as it goes on. Overall, a nice little dance number to listen to and definitely did its rounds on the airwaves this year.

Ed Sheeran – Bad Habits

He has come a long way indeed since his first-ever track release, You Need Me (But I don’t Need You), is a catchy dance/pop/rock in itself and Ed Sheeran’s singing voice as always never fails to hit the mark. Throughout the song, there is the duh-duh duh-duh duh-duh beat that seamlessly weaves its way throughout the track.

Wolf Alice – Last Man on Earth

Beautiful, soulful song and Elle Rosworth’s singing voice is smooth and silky as always. As a dance/rock track it is definitely one for your playlist and was a good listening pleasure on the airwaves. The guitar riffs are magnetic and the electronic beat that you can hear throughout is catchy and adds just that bit more depth to the track.
