Music Monday: Thee More Shallows drop fizzy indie-pop ‘Drinking Tang’

Drinking Tang is the new single from American-based indie/pop trio, Thee More Shallows, for something that’s 3 minutes and 53 seconds long it doesn’t actually sound all that bad. The opening sounds reminiscent of something similar to both Bryn Adams and Sting, but non-the-less sounds really good once it gets going after a few moments.

In terms of Tang as a song, it’s quite melodic for a track that has a persistent use of steady guitar riffs throughout.

Another thing that makes this a good, catchy track is the subject matter that has inspired the song as it draws back on front-man Dee Kelser’s upbringing and childhood. Ironically, for anyone who’s ever listened to songs that are inspired by personal events or an individual’s own upbringing and life story you know it’s going to make a decent song.

Dee’s vocals are filled with emotion throughout the entire song and are smooth, even when there’s that ‘world weary’ edge about them. Nonetheless, it makes a great musical journey for the ears, that plus the backing vocals from both Chavo Fraser and Jason Gonzales just make it that bit fun to listen to.
