Music Monday: SEAFOAM GREEN drops new single!

House on the Hill’, the new single by male/female duo, Seafoam Green, and straight from the get-go it’s filled with gritty vocals, guitar riffs that pack a punch or two, and some piano on the backing. Straight from their forthcoming, Martin’s Garden, House on the Hill is a fusion of grittiness, alt-rock, and southern rock with some blues packed in and has that ‘Southern State’ sound to it. Adam Humphries reports.

For a song that’s 4 minutes and 2 seconds long it is actually quite upbeat and energetic without going too crazy and in your face which is what you would normally expect from some rock songs. If you are a fan of The Black Keys then chances are you are going to love this song as they did it in collaboration with the front-man, Rich Robinson. And yep, you can definitely hear their sound coming straight through.

As singers Dave O’ Grady and Muireann McDermott Long both compliment each other as vocally they are both at opposite ends of the vocal scale; Dave’s voice is gritty with edge and sounds world-weary whereas Muireann is softer and more melodic, higher-key yet is just as world-weary.

Now for a duo that sounds like they are from the United Stated you’d be surprised to know that they are actually from Ireland but specialize in a sound called ‘Americana’. Basically, a sound that’s based on American-style music, and you certainly get with this gem.
