MONTH OF VICTORY

It has been 50 years since the month this nation vanquished its Freedom. And as we commemorate the month half a century after it dawned, we should not only reflect on how far we have come and but also on how far we need to go.

Winning our freedom was the first step into forming a new nation. After defeating the external enemies, we were left to fight the internal ones for over 5 decades.

Inequality& Poverty:

Rebuilding a war-ravaged economy and rehabilitating millions of people with jobs, housing, and education was not an easy task. We have and are still struggling to eradicate poverty and establishing economic stability.

Fight the Enemies Within:

The revival of Religious fundamentalism and related political maneuvers has made this nation culturally regressive, shaping the political and cultural landscape. These extremists are taking our nation backwards.

Decentralize and infrastructure:

Dhaka is the most densely populated city in the world. The government needs to urgently invest in developing infrastructures and decentralize the capital. More bridges and better transportation will ensure development and innovation to reach all the corners of the nation.

NHS and Free Education:

Having access to free education and health care facilities are our basic rights. Although public organizations like (BRAC, Grameen) and individuals have come forward to provide education, health care credit facilities, etc. the responsibility still lies strongly on the shoulder of the government who needs to ensure every child have access to education and every person to health care.

Climate Challenges:

Climate change is the greatest threat humanity is facing. Bangladesh has ratified the Paris Agreement (a legally binding international treaty to tackle Climate Change). The government is working to hit the new emission reduction targets by 2030.

We have won some battles but are left with many more to win. We need courage, support, and pragmatism from our leaders to build a nation that was dreamed of; A nation 3 million people gave their lives for.
