World best soccer star Lionel Messi’s Argentina has possibility to visit Bangladesh for playing a friendly match against Paraguay in November 18 this year.
This will be second time Argentina will play an international friendly match in Bangladesh at Bangabandhu national stadium in eight years.
Paraguayan Football Association tweeted this on Tuesday from their official twitter account.
The Twitter account also posted the fixture of another Paraguay friendly against Venezuela at the same venue, three days before Argentina game.
According to the Mundo Albiceleste, a leading news portal on Argentine football said, “Earlier, Argentina will play against Brazil on November 15 in Saudi Arabia. Meanwhile, a few days after that, on November 18, they will play Paraguay in Bangladesh,”
But Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) is uncertain to host both the matches because of security reason and huge expenditure that is required to arrange an international friendly.
Abu Nayeem Shohag, general secretary of BFF said to the reporters, “We have been working on this for quite some time. At the moment, there is a 50/50 chance of the matches taking place in Dhaka. There are issues such as funding and security assurance involved with the matches. If those issues are solved, hosting these matches is very likely. We are discussing things with the government agencies,”
“BFF is interested to host at least one of the two international friendlies but it is not certain whether we can arrange both. Nothing is confirmed yet,” he added.
Argentina first played in Bangladesh back in 2011 where they beat Nigeria by 3-1 goal and BFF had to bear the cost of around Tk35 crores to host the game.
