MCM Comic Con 2018 Review

Thousands flocked to the NEC on 24-25 November to attend the bi-annual Comic Con, and this year it was bigger than ever. Video gamers, comic book fans, artists and anyone who even considers themselves even a fraction of a ‘nerd’ would find something to appeal to them here!
The NEC arena provided the necessary space to accommodate the massive crowds, and with everything taking place so close to the holidays, it also proved a great chance to get early Christmas presents, if your friends are into anything remotely comic-con related or beyond.
A personal highlight for me was seeing the large mural created for Stan Lee, the iconic comic book writer, editor and publisher of Marvel Comics, who tragically passed away on 12 November.  The mural featured a large black canvas and encouraged passers-by to approach it and write any messages and condolences to the Icon, who shaped such a substantial part of our pop culture as we know it today. It was a strong moment to see so many people united in mourning the passing of someone so important.

A tribute to Stan Lee at Comic Con.

The MCM Comic Con takes place several times a year in different places all around the UK. The venues, guests and stalls often grow in size each year. Keep an eye out for the announcement of the next Birmingham Comic Con, as well as the London Expo towards the end of May at the Excel Arena.
