Massive Flood in India: More than 100 Dead

More than 100 people have died in India due to massive flood caused by heavy monsoon rain. Uttar Pradesh and Bihar are the mostly affected states according to the officials.
134 people have died already according to the Uttar Pradesh government report.
The death toll in Bihar is 29, according to the state disaster management authority where Patna is the mostly affected city.

Railway traffic, vehicular movement, healthcare services, schools and power supply have been shattered in both states, officials said.
“the amount of rain that the two-city received was completely unexpected”, The PTI news agency quoted an official.
The state government has asked the Indian Air Force for helicopters and machines for pumping out water as early as possible.
“The condition of the water is very bad – the condition of Varanasi is very bad. Drainage arrangements have gone very bad,” one local in the northern city of Varanasi told Reuters news.

Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) forecast that rain will continue in upcoming 24 hours as the unexpected monsoon is very active upon the state Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.
“Since the situation is likely to continue for at least another 24 hours, maximum vigil along the rivers as well as urban drains have to be maintained for sudden flood like situation in association with intense rain spells during the warning period,” stated Central Water Commission (CWC) in its latest update.

The highest rainfall was recorded in districts of Samastipur, Bhagalpur, Begusarai and Bhojpur.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red warning for heavy rain.
