Marylebone Music Festival 2018 opens tomorrow and this exciting event has been developed to celebrate the Victorian Craze of Pleasure Gardens.
The festival kicks off on 21 June in aid of West London Day Centre, a business which works in accordance with over 25s who are affected by homelessness.
To mark this occasion there will be many top artists in attendance; there will be several key performers across the festival’s 4 day takeover in London this June.
Over this timescale there will be 10 events included, leading to a vibrant finale at the Marylebone Pleasure Gardens, which will excitingly include performances from the Queen’s Household Cavalry.
The annual festival will this year include concerts directed by Rick Wakeman, Sue Perkins and Anna Richardson and features artists such as Alasdair Beatson, Nicholas Daniel, and Daniel Rowland.
Meghan Cassidy, Artistic Director, commented: “This is the third year we have run this event. It is incredible to bring world class acts together to celebrate music in this beautiful part of London, and for a great cause. Artist directors, Sue Perkins and Patrons HRH Princess Michael of Kent, Rick Wakeman and myself are pleased to confirm that since 2016 we managed to raise over 10 million pounds for the West London Day Centre.
“The annual Marylebone Music Festival has re-invented the pleasure garden for the 21st century, bringing the world’s top artistic talent into some of London’s loveliest settings. It invites you to re-discover “London’s first musical venues”: the fantastical Pleasure Gardens. This lost Victorian craze invited revellers to enter a secret garden and be transported from grey streets to green gardens, away from the city’s chaotic noise to an illuminated park full of elegant music.”
Marylebone Music Festival is arranged to connect people through art & music and as a result creates a community atmosphere with a contemporary feel.
