Macy Gray falls into that second category as this tenth studio album proves with each and every song. Gray has surpassed the need for chart recognition, or even media adoration. Her work is all she needs to not just survive but thrive. Ruby consists of 12 tracks which see R&B, soul and jazz melted together in a perfect musical recipe. Possibly one of the albums of the year.
