Labour Leader slams Boris’s lack of strategy to contain Covid

With harsh winter approaching, millions of people fear to face prolonged agony. Labour Leader, Sir Keir Starmer warns Boris’s lack of strategy in tackling the pandemic can bring catastrophic consequences to the nation. Anika Khan reports.

The Labour leader called for an emergency national ‘circuit-breaker’ lockdown to contain the spread of Covid-19. This new policy is to replace Boris’s poorly funded regional measures which have proved to be unsuccessful so far.

Sir Keir pointed out the government’s personal scientific researcher has disclosed on Friday that a Tier-3 lockdown is not enough to reduce the infection rate. He described the Tier-3 Lockdown as the worst policy since it brings with it significant economic harm to the country.

He talked about the Great manchester Mayor, Andy Burnham who has recently fought with the government to fund the lockdown in his state. Tories offered a fund of £22m where as a minimum budget of £65 million is needed to protect local jobs and businesses.Sir Keir slammed Boris for the “miserly way that he has treated Greater Manchester”.

The Shadow Chancellor, Annelise Dodds also said that the government gave up their chance “to fix its shambolic approach to supporting areas moving into Tier 3 lockdown.

It seems like Prime Minister Boris is failing to deliver all the promises he has made to the nation and the people of the United Kingdom.
