The English synth-pop singer La Roux’s song ‘Bulletproof’ has been recently used as soundtrack in a news segment about fashion-forward bulletproof clothing and bags meant for children on Fox Business. As a response, the singer has criticised the broadcast television by commenting:
“Using ‘Bulletproof’, a song I wrote about relationships, for a piece like this is abhorrent. I have never, and would never approve my music to be used in this way.”
The Fox Business news segment, ‘Mornings With Maria’, used the song while talking about back-to-school items from the company MC Armor, designed specifically for American schoolchildren.
“It’s incredible that this has come to this, though – that we need bulletproof clothing.” said the host Maria Bartiromo.
Moreover, La Roux added that she never gave permission to the television network to use her song, which reached number one in the UK singles chart in 2009, being in the singer’s self-titled debut album.
