Joe Biden urgently calls to combat the Pandemic

On Thursday, Joe Biden unveiled a $1.9 trillion coronavirus relief proposal to combat the pandemic and tackle the economic crisis that continues to ravage the USA.

The US is facing the deadliest wave of the Corona-virus Pandemic. Joe Biden, the president-elect addresses the dire issue and said that there is no time to waste.

He described the situation as “a crisis of deep human suffering”. He added, “We have to act and we have to act now.”

Joe Biden’s transition team has released more details of the aid package on Thursday:

  • He proposed a stimulus package of $160 billion for vaccination funds and a $1 trillion relief fund for families.
  • If Congress approves the proposal, people who are in dire need will directly receive $2000.
  • Unemployment insurance will increase from $300 to $400 till September.   
  • Biden has also promised to administer over 100m Covid-19 jabs during the first three months of his administration.
  • Biden has also called on lawmakers to extend a national eviction moratorium, which expires on 31 January.

Joe Biden’s Inauguration next Wednesday will mark the first anniversary of the first confirmed case of Coronavirus in USA.
