American actress Javicia Leslie has been selected for the role of ‘Batwoman’ TV series. Dipto Paul Reports.
Javicia will appear from the second season of the Batwoman series following the departure of Ruby Rose, who quit the show back in May after just one season.
Leslie commented on the news of her new role, saying: “I am extremely proud to be the first Black actress to play the iconic role of Batwoman on television,”
She added: “As a bisexual woman, I am honored to join this groundbreaking show which has been such a trailblazer for the LGBTQ+ community,”
Previously the actress appeared on the television series ‘God Friended Me’.
Javicia will be the first Black actress to play the Batwoman character on television/
Her character, Ryan Wilder, is described as: “Likeable, messy, a little goofy and untamed”.
Ruby Rose also shared her emotions via Instagram saying, “This is amazing!! I am so glad Batwoman will be played by an amazing Black woman.”
“I want to congratulate Javicia Leslie on taking over the bat cape. You are walking into an amazing cast and crew. I can’t wait to watch season 2 you are going to be amazing!!” she added.
