Jack and the Beanstalk Easter Panto 2018

Music, mischief, mayhem…the Jack and the Beanstalk pantomime held at the Epstein Theatre in Liverpool this April had it all.
Held in a quaint and comfortable setting, the intimate hub acted as a perfect base for the cast (headed up by the multi-talented star Ray Quinn) to perform their lively version of this much-loved fairytale.
The script was funny, the storyline classic (yet with a contemporary twist) and the characters enthusiastic in their roles. The music was the perfect blend of modern and old-school and there was a great interactive slot mid-way through the show which saw 2 young visitors get the chance to sing along on stage with the hilarious Dame Trott, played by the skilful Michael Chapman.
This was a family-friendly show that proved to be a real feel-good Easter-time treat. Ray shone as the plucky Jack with his energetic dance routines and cheeky chappy persona, and the villainous Fleshcreep (Lindzi Germain) also stood out with her booming voice and menacing expressions.
The costumes were brilliant and the lighting also made an impact, so all of the elements were in play to draw to a close a well-executed tale of adventure and action. Overall this was a really enjoyable day out full of laughs – the Epstein Theatre is a recommended venue of interest for visitors and the production company delivered a true delight this half-term.
