Iron Maiden, Kiss and System Of A Down Team Up For Virtual ‘Download Festival’

The legendary rockers Iron Maiden, Kiss and System Of A Down are heading to the Download Festival which is now going to be a virtual, weekend-long streaming event. Puza Snigdha reports.

According to the UK’s biggest rock fest Download Festival, the three bands are set to perform through a mix of vintage clips and exclusive content for Download TV, which will stream on YouTube and social media from 12 – 14 June.

Here is what you need to know about this online event:

  • The festival was supposed to happen on its 50th anniversary but due to coronavirus outbreak, the organizers had to pull it down.
  • The organisers have said in a statement: “The weekend will be split into day and evening, where the day will be everything that celebrates the spirit of Download Festival, and the evening brings 2 to 3 hours of tailor-made programming where Downloaders can tune in and rock out,”
  • KISS will headline the Friday (June 12) festivities, with a replay of standout moments from their huge 2015 headline set.
  • Iron Maiden will head up the Saturday (June 13) programming with nostalgic performances, “Legacy of the Beast” snippets.
  • On Sunday, System of a Down’s performances from 2005, 2011 and 2017 will run throughout the day.
  • Download TV will also air performances from Korn, Deftones, Babymetal, Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes, Creeper, The Offspring, Funeral For A Friend, The Darkness, Bowling For Soup and more on their official Youtube channel.
