Interview: Chris Amos of Pleasuredrome, London’s gay & bisexual sauna spa

Pleasuredrome UK is London’s world famous gay and bisexual sauna spa, located in Waterloo.
Ahead of the publication of our annual WhatsOn Pink Guide, we spoke exclusively to Chris Amos, Brand Manager of Pleasuredrome, to find out more:
So Chris, we hear Pleasuredrome is the best sauna to visit in London? Tell us a bit about it…
Pleasuredrome has been going for over 23 years now and open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. You can turn up, literally anytime, and gain entry into our hedonistic pleasure spa. Plus we have a 24 hour licensed bar – the only gay venue in the whole UK to have 24/7 alcohol license. The whole venue is a labyrinth of rooms, showers, saunas and steam rooms over two floors, it’s perfect for a sexy night out. We get super busy after work and all weekend.
It’s Christmas soon, do you have anything festive lined up?
Pleasuredrome already has a pretty atmospheric vibe about it with dark lighting, old brick walls, mist coming out the showers, steam rooms and spa pool. London is buzzing in the Christmas season with work & house parties. Every night throughout December is busy. We want What’s On readers to know we are open and when they are finished celebrating their Christmas parties, continue the fun at Pleasuredrome. Strip down into a white towel, grab a beer and meet some guys for some hot encounters.
Are there any discount offers to check out Pleasuredrome?
Yes, if you pick up the latest copy of the Pink Guide, there is a £5 off voucher. Also, guys 25 and under get £5 off the entry charge, they just need to show their proof of age ID.
Having a bar that’s open 24 hours in London is a rare thing! What do people tend to order at 6am?
Actually Pleasuredrome is the only gay venue in the whole United Kingdom open with a 24 hour alcohol license. London is an international city and should have a gay bar that’s open 24 hours a day, and it does, Pleasuredrome. We serve food too… wraps, sandwiches, crisps, fruit, sweets. Behind the bar we have a variety of wines, beers and spirits available. We don’t overprice either for the convenience of drinking after hours. Is actually a good way to make new friends, buy them a drink first. Sometimes we have visitors overnight, waiting for their morning trains from Waterloo Station, is cool they have somewhere to go beforehand. Of course, if our guests are too intoxicated we won’t serve them.
There are a lot of guys who like the idea of heading to a gay sauna, but aren’t sure about the ins and outs of going to one. Where should they head to get their questions answered?
Being London’s busiest gay sauna we are inundated with questions via email, social media & phone so I put together answers to all the most commonly asked questions. There are 70 questions on our new FAQs webpage from “Do you have large towels?” to “Can I wear stockings?” all the responses are on our website. A lot of people want to know when is busy – the answer, in case you are reading this and wondering – it’s afternoons into early evenings and weekends. However we have lots of men coming in all day long, tourists in town, shift workers, day off workers, some guys prefer when is less busy so can proper relax, enjoy a massage, sunbed – chill in the spa pool. For some men it’s easier to hook up when it’s less busy. Sometimes it can be so busy, guys disappear in the maze. We have a lot of regulars who come weekly so we run a Pleasuredrome Rewards incentive where you download an app and stamp in each time, after your 10th visit you get a complimentary entry. All the details are on the website: www.pleasuredrome.com
Finally, what’s the best way of keeping up to date with all things Pleasuredrome?

Sharing funny posts, gay health stories and of course sexy photos and videos of models from our promotional shoots inside Pleasuredrome. On our Youtube channel now we have close to 11k subscribers, so whenever we drop a new video they are the first to see. Just search “Pleasuredrome” you will find us.
