Inside Arc: Explore Rarely-Seen Designer Fashion

Inside Arc is an exciting exhibition which delves into the glamorous world of designer fashion.
It takes a look into the treasure trove collection of style specialists Jennefer Osterhoudt and features work from John Galliano and Alexander McQueen – items that have rarely been seen before!
The event is presented by Fashion Space Gallery, at London College of Fashion, University of the Arts London. The archive brings to light exclusive garments, accessories and other items; an impressive array of both vintage items and contemporary picks.
Jennefer personally contributed a lot to the portfolio but the exhibit will also incorporate work by fashion design icons John Galliano and Alexander McQueen. Stylist Nick Royal also assisted in the co-creation of the archive.
Inside Arc centres on the application of luxurious fabrics and subsequently will provide insight into the complex and labour-intensive techniques used by high fashion to create ‘rarities’. An example of this would be the ‘Evita’ jacket worn by Madonna in her 1994 ‘Take a Bow’ video.
Each garment has been collected throughout Jennefer’s career and life in fashion and so merges everything from personal pieces from charity shops to rare handmade invitations.
This enticing – and ever-expanding – collection is frequently utilised in modern-day photo-shoots and campaigns. It remains a subject of creative inspiration and continues to encourage other fashion greats; its employed processes have been applied by legendary fashion figures like Versace and Vivienne Westwood.
Jennefer Osterhoudt said: “I feel very proud that the collection is being put on display – I’m really happy that it’s no longer sitting in storage. This collection is my work and my identity – I have always been a hoarder of fashion items and get a thrill out of coming across an Alaïa or Chanel piece in a charity shop.
“I always brought my treasured finds from San Francisco back to Paris and London and shared them with Galliano, McQueen and the other designers I’ve worked alongside as inspiration. I think, to them, it was really valuable to be able to see the real American culture that they had no access to.”
Inside Arc will run from 11 May – 28 July at the London College of Fashion’s chosen venue, its Fashion Space Gallery. Participation is free, so find out more here.
