Institute of Modern Languages (IML) of Jagannath University (Dhaka , Bangladesh) arranged its first ever Data Disseminating Workshop on a research project titled, “Study on the Use of ICT Tools in English Language Classrooms at Private Universities in Dhaka City.” On July 22, 2018.
The study diagnosed the effects of using ICT in teaching English Language Classrooms where the Private Universities of Bangladesh were taken into consideration for the purpose of the study. More specifically it did a comparative study on the use of ICT in English language classrooms between public universities and private universities of Bangladesh.
In the enthralling workshop, Ms.Ismat Zarin, Assistant Professor at the Department of English of Eastern University delivered a talk on the study where she also expressed her gratitude towards Jagannath University for arranging the workshop. In her talk, Ms.Zarin also expressed her concerns with regard to the obsessions on using ICT excessively in the classrooms which she believes might cause dependence on ICT and absence of creativity among teachers as well as students. The workshop ended with a certificate giving ceremony.
