Human are The New Bearer of Hepatitis Strain : Hong Kong

Hong Kong health authorities revealed that some locals are carrying hepatitis E virus in their body that appeared in the rats on Friday.
The shocking news first came infront two months ago when Scientists found the case while scientists tested blood samples of patients. A 56-year-old man and a 70-year-old woman in Hong Kong has been found to have a strain of hepatitis E and this shocked the researchers.
The first known human case is the 56-year-old man and has since been treated and cleared by doctors of the rat hepatitis E infection. Siddharth Sridhar, a clinical assistant professor at the University of Hong Kong involved in both cases.
The 70 year woman had been admitted to a hospital in May 2017 with abdominal pain, headache, anorexia and other symptoms. The blood samples collected from her at the time recently tested positive.
According to World Health Organization, around 20 million people infected by the hepatitis E virus every year but this is the first time cases of rat hepatitis E being passed to humans.
“It’s not a one-off thing—it can jump to humans, and the people who seem to be susceptible are individuals with weak immunity,” said Siddharth Sridhar added “Rats are very versatile – they’re basically all over the world, and Hong Kong is no exception.”
This two case proves that human being are capable of carrying this serious virus.
“Because the rat strain is very different from the human strain, people think it wouldn’t be able to jump to humans, this was a clinical discovery,” said Siddharth Sridhar.
However, the Health Department thinks the sources and routes of infection of these two cases could not be determined. Big Pharma takes rare price cut on hepatitis C drugs, but other drug prices continue to march north.
