Honduras Threatened by Trump to Cut Aid if it Does not Stop Migrant Caravan

President Donald Trump has threatened to cut off aid to Honduras if its government fail to stop a large ‘caravan’ of migrants who are attempting to the reach the US border overland.
Almost 1,600 to 2,000 people hoping to arrive in the U.S. marched from Honduras into Guatemala Monday, fleeing violence and poverty in their home country. The police are pushed to stop them – first at the border, then at the Guatemalan town of Esquipulas.
Trump’s threat reflects his America First campaign rhetoric, which spurned foreign entanglements. Trump has advocated rolling back foreign aid, which represents less than 1 percent of federal spending, and his administration attempted to kill $3 billion in foreign aid over the summer.
The caravan is the second this year. Earlier in April, when a similar group of hundreds of people sought to migrate to the US, Trump also threatened to cut aid. The vast majority failed to reach the US, but a handful of asylum seekers did manage to enter.
In April, Trump threatened to withdraw aid from the Central American country after a similar caravan of about 1,000 set out from that nation in the direction of the U.S.
