Groundswell

Protecting yourself from the virus when homeless.

‘Stay home’, ‘socially isolate’, ‘social distancing’, ‘lockdown’. These are all phrases that have become part of our daily conversations with friends, family and colleagues.

But what about the more than 300,000 people experiencing homelessness in the UK? People who don’t have homes to stay in? People who cannot wash their hands with hot water and soap frequently? The people who share bathrooms and kitchens with others where social distancing isn’t possible? People who don’t have access to 24/7 news with the latest guidance?

People are facing these challenges right now – trying to protect themselves and others when the guidance isn’t applicable to their lives.

Groundswell has a solution. We spoke to people living in these situations right now and asked them how are you coping? What are you doing to try and protect yourself and others? Using this insight Groundswell created short, accessible guides in a variety of languages, applying the COVID-19 guidance to people experiencing different types of homelessness. These are being distributed to people who are homeless across the country, equipping them with information to protect themselves and others.

As the guidance changes, Groundswell are committed to creating new guides and putting them in the hands of the people who need them, so they don’t’ feel alone. We need your donations to continue this.

Everyone has the right to good health. Everyone should be able to protect themselves from COVID-19, no matter who they are.
