Georgina Chapman: Ex-Wife of Harvey Weinstein Breaks Her Silence

Georgina Chapman, Marchesa fashion designer and ex-wife of Harvey Weinstein, has broken her silence on Weinstein’s scandals.
In an interview with American Vogue, Chapman said she was unaware and never suspected her ex-husband of the sexual assult accusations surrounding the disgraced producer.
When asked if she’d had any suspicions, Chapman said, “Absolutely not. Never.” She added, “I had what I thought was a very happy marriage. I loved my life.”
The fashion designer told the magazine that she was “humiliated and broken” by the situation, saying she lost “ten pounds in five days. I couldn’t keep food down.”
The mother of two also mentioned that she sought help from a therapist to deal with the situation. “My head was spinning. And it was difficult because the first article was about a time long before I’d ever met him, so there was a minute where I couldn’t make an informed decision. And then the stories expanded and I realised that this wasn’t an isolated incident. And I knew that I needed to step away and take the kids out of here.”
Some suggest the interview may be taken as an attempt to rebuild Marchesa’s brand, the fashion company Chapman works for. The brand has seen a dip in representation since news surfaced of Weinstein’s misdeeds, most recently in its absence from the 2018 Met Gala red carpet. Several actresses, including Jessica Chastain, have said that Weinstein forced them to wear the brand to events. However, actress Scarlett Johansson did show her support by wearing a red Marchesa gown to this year’s Met Gala.
The full interview can be found in the June issue of American Vogue.
