Game of Thrones creators David Benioff and DB Weiss are all set to write and produce a new Star Wars trilogy. Their participation was made public on the Star Wars official website on Tuesday.
This is the latest new project announced in the expansion of the Star Wars franchise. The three films will be completely independent from all previous films set in a galaxy far, far away.
Rian Johnson, writer and director of the latest Star Wars film, is also working on a different trilogy.
The president of Lucasfilm, Kathleen Kennedy said, “David and Dan are some of the best storytellers working today. Their command of complex characters, depth of story and richness of mythology will break new ground and boldly push Star Wars in ways I find incredibly exciting.”
“We are honoured by the opportunity, a little terrified by the responsibility, and so excited to get started as soon as the final season of Game of Thrones is complete”, said the creators of the hugely successful HBO fantasy series.
It is a very exciting time for Star Wars fans from all over the world. Not only did Star Wars return with some of fan’s favourite characters with Episode VII, there was also Rogue One, a stand-alone film, and the trailer for the Han Solo movie, which will hit cinemas soon, was released on Monday.
