Futures For Children is an independent fostering agency in Kent and Essex. They are a part of the umbrella company Futures Group.
Their mission is to provide, through a flexible, caring. And imaginative foster care service, an opportunity for all our children and young people to become valued members of tomorrow’s society. Looked after children represent the most disadvantaged and vulnerable members of our community. At Futures for Children, their objective is to provide support. And conditions in which these most vulnerable young people can thrive and achieve their time spent in foster care. There is much work to be done to redress the disadvantages these children have experienced. And little time to do this before they become independent young adults.
Futures Group was founded in 1999 by 2 foster carers. After working with different fostering agencies, they got to see firsthand the support that was lacking from them and decided to build their own fostering agency, one that had all the support and resources a foster carer could need.
At Futures for Children, they aim to equip foster carers with the appropriate skills and training to work with the child. In such a way that it facilitates joint growth and solutions which will eventually enable young people to either return home successfully. Move on to a more permanent placement, or achieve independent living; whichever is in accordance with their Care Plan. And in the best interest of the child. When you foster with Futures For Children you will receive training.
24-hour support with an out-of-hours service, regular foster carer support groups, and a dedicated Supervising Social Worker who will arrange regular meetings with you as well as support whenever you need it.
Futures For Children achieved a ‘Good’ inspection outcome in 2018 as they have done in previous years. And also are waiting for the next inspection this year.
The Director of Futures For Children once said “Ordinary people can do extraordinary things”. Futures For Children strongly believes there is no ‘typical’ foster care. They like to remind people who are considering fostering that if you have the right requirements and motivation, anyone can be a foster carer.
