Foster for Plymouth

At Foster for Plymouth, we aspire to provide Plymouth children with a brighter future. With over 450 children in care and only 115 fostering households, we’re always keen to hear from people who believe they could help to nurture, educate and support children who do not have the stability and guidance they so desperately need. We need more local foster families to help us to look after our children.

It’s important to remember, there is no such thing as an ‘ideal’ foster carer when we are looking for fostering families; it’s who you are that really matters. Just like the children in our care, our foster carers come from all walks of life, so we actively look for foster carers as diverse of our children as we know we can benefit from the experience you already have. Regardless of your sexual orientation, income, marital status, disability, gender, religion, ethnicity, or whether you have experience caring for children or not, all we ask is you have the space in your heart and home to foster a child. What we need are flexible, open and honest people who are able to understand the difficulties our children have experienced and to provide a safe and stable home for as long or as little they need.

Fostering with us at Plymouth City Council gives you flexibility too. There is a type of fostering for everyone; short term, permanent, parent and child, respite, and short-breaks. We really need you to consider becoming a foster carer and help cater to all of our children’s needs who range from infants to older teenagers. Rest assured we know fostering isn’t always easy and is a big commitment for any household. Still, we’re confident our training and support team will provide you with as little or as much training and support as you may require, right from your initial inquiry through to your assessment process and beyond.

If you, or someone you know, living in or surrounding Plymouth believe you have the compassion and dedication to give a local child a brighter future, we would love to hear from you. Regardless of whether you are querying how to begin your fostering journey, or if you want to ask a quick question, please give a member of our friendly team a call on 01752 308762 or request a call back by texting FOSTERPLYMOUTH to 66777.
