Film Friday: Top 5 TV series of 2021 to watch this weekend!

This week WhatsOn is back with the top 5 TV series and reviews which aired in 2021. To make your weekend more delightful and less boring doesn’t forget to stream those.

Loki season 1

It isn’t surprising to see that Loki has been the well-received Marvel TV show on Disney Plus so far. With its charismatic lead in Tom Hiddleston’s god of mischief, a stellar supporting cast including Owen Wilson’s lovable Agent Mobius, and some of the best sets and music we’ve seen and heard in a long time, Loki feels like a Marvel movie in a way that the other two Marvel TV series haven’t.

Robindronath Ekhane Kawkhono Khete Aashenni

Rabindranath Ekhane Kokhono Khete Asen Ni, is a web series based on the thriller novel of the same name written by Bangladeshi writer Mohammad Nazim Uddin. It is directed by Indian director Srijit Mukherji. Rabindranath Ekhane Kokhono Khete Asenni (REKKA) is a nine-part series that centers on a mysterious owner of a restaurant, whereas the name suggests, the bard had never come to eat.

Vincenzo Cassano

Staring by Song Joong-Ki and Jeon Yeo-bin, this drama is now one of the most popular K-drama. The finale achieved the highest viewership rating of the show’s entire run. It takes the viewer on a tumultuous ride from the first episodes of Italian mafia games to later episodes of dark undercurrents of South Korea’s own real estate mafia. Here Song Joong-ki as the consigliere turned savior is mesmerizing to watch. The Italian Mafia, in search of gold, set out to his motherland, South Korea. But her enemy changes as he hopes on the fight against the evil of the conglomerate of Babel.

Mare of Easttown

HBO’s drama became a rare case of must-see viewing and appointment TV, a dying breed that the Home Box Office is one of the last networks to dominate. Where Disney’s Marvel shows were endlessly discussed yet easily spoiled, Mare’s Sunday primetime slot gave us much-needed structure as we dissected a murder investigation in Pennsylvania. Kate Winslet and her Pennsylvania accent lead this cast which feels as real as any small town in middle America. Winslet gives Mare endless rough edges, cloaking the character’s pain in her gruff determination to solve the crime.

Feels Like Ishq

The anthology series Feels Like Ishq (“Feels Like Love“) takes a lighthearted look at teenagers and young adults in the early stages of romance, with plenty of meet-cutes and endearing moments. All six episodes are helmed by different directors, including Anand Tiwari, who also directed 2018’s charming Netflix Original rom-com Love Per Square Foot. Netflix Indian Originals are often kinda grim, so Feels Like Ishq offers a refreshing counterpoint.
