Its December and people are having their Xmas holidays. Seems like Netflix has saved its biggest releases for December. This week, our film editor Mark Goddard has picked top trending movies of December on Netflix-

Django Unchained

The film is directed and written by Quentin Tarantino and stars amie Foxx, Christoph Waltz, Leonardo DiCaprio, Kerry Washington, and more. The film shows a set of 1858 which tells the story of a slave who freed out to rescue his wife with a help of a German bounty hunter Schultz. Schultz offers to help him if he chooses to stay with him and be his partner. The 165 mins long movie released on 11th December in 2012. It was the most successful film by Quentin Tarantino.

E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial

The American science fiction film E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial was released on May 26, 1982 but is on Netflix’s top trending this month. To celebrate the 20th anniversary of it’s release, the film re-released in 1985 and again in 2002 with some additional scenes. The family-friendly movie is a masterpiece of the time and still it is trending. It was directed by Steven Spielberg and written by Melissa Mathison. The film features Henry Thomas, Dee Wallace, Drew Barrymore, Peter Coyote, C. Thomas Howell, and Robert MacNaughton. The film is blending of pure magic and a grounded emotionality.

Peppermint

The action thrilling film is directed by Pierre Morel, starring Jennifer Garner, John Ortiz, John Gallagher Jr., Juan Pablo Raba, Tyson Ritter and more. Jennifer Garner leads the main character whose husband and daughter are killed in a senseless act of violence. After five years, she stands out to avenge them. Jennifer Garner was fantastic in this revenge flick, a broken mother and wife driven from the normality of everyday life to the edge of sanity by tragic loss and then to be betrayed by the justice system.

Pink

The Bollywood movie Pink represents the patriarchal nature of Indian society which is ready to blame girls on each and every turn. The movie is quite trending on Netflix. Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury gave the direction for the social thriller film and stars Amitabh Bachchan, Taapsee Pannu, Kirti Kulhari, Andrea Tariang, Angad Bedi, and more. The film goes on after the leading character Minal faces molestation by some high-profile persons and she tries file case upon them. First of all no one is ready to take her case and then one of her neighbor who is lawyer takes her case and eventually makes her to get justice.

Trail of Ashes

The mystery and thriller film shows the search for the empress’s daughter reunites two long lost brothers. Growing up on opposite sides of a war and now must choose between family bonds and political alliances. The film is directed by Arturo Lizardi and stars Héctor Escudero, Cecilia Arguelles, Arturo Lizardi, and more. Trail of Ashes was released in 2020 on December 1.
