The films in this week’s Film Friday mix genres like science fiction, action comedy, thrill, and epic drama comedy. Get set to make your weekend worthwhile by watching some of the greatest films that the WhatsOn editor has chosen for you.

1. Honk for Jesus. Save Your Soul

Honk for Jesus, Adamma Ebo wrote, produced, and directed the dark comedy-drama movie Save Your Soul in 2022.

The megachurch pastor and first lady are portrayed in the film by Regina Hall and Sterling K. Brown.

Trinitie Childs, the first lady of a significant Southern Baptist Mega Church, tries to assist her pastor-husband, Lee-Curtis Childs, in rebuilding their congregation following a significant controversy.

On January 23, 2022, the movie made its global premiere at the Sundance Film Festival. On September 2, 2022, it was released in theaters and streamed on Peacock.

2. Secret Headquarters

Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman are the directors of the 2022 superhero movie Secret Headquarters, which they also co-wrote with Josh Koenigsberg, Christopher L. Yost, and Yost.

The story is starred in by Michael Pea, Momona Tamada, Walker Scobell, Jesse Williams, Keith L. Williams, and Owen Wilson.

Charlie and his friends are hanging out after school when they find the headquarters of the most powerful superhero in the world hiding beneath Charlie’s house. They must work together to defend the headquarters and defend the globe when villains invade.

3. Happening

The 2021 French drama thriller film Happening (French: L’événement) is directed by Audrey Diwan and based on the 2000 Annie Ernaux novel of the same name. It was written by Diwan and Marcia Romano. Anamaria Vartolomei and Luana Bajrami are the movie’s two stars, while Wild Bunch will handle distribution.

An adaptation of the same-titled novel by Annie Ernaux, reflecting on the author’s encounter with abortion in the 1960s, when it was still forbidden in France.

On September 6, 2021, it will have its global premiere in competition at the 78th Venice International Film Festival.

4. Brahmāstra: Part One – Shiva    

Ayan Mukerji wrote and directed the fantasy action-adventure movie Brahmstra: Part One – Shiva in 2022.

The movie serves as the first chapter of a trilogy that is intended to be a part of the Astraverse movie universe. Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Mouni Roy, and Nagarjuna Akkineni are among the cast members.

The movie, which takes its cues from Hindu mythology, follows Shiva, an orphan with pyrokinetic abilities who learns that he is an Astra, a weapon of tremendous energy. He makes an effort to stop the Brahmstra, the strongest of the astras, from slipping into the hands of evil powers with whom he has a shared past.

Shiva was theatrically released on September 9, 2022, by Star Studios in India and Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures all over the world.

5. A Thursday

A Thursday in the Hindi language Indian thriller movie, Behzad Khambata is the author and director of the film.

The movie, which also stars Yami Gautam, Atul Kulkarni, Neha Dhupia, Dimple Kapadia, and Karanvir Sharma, was made by RSVP Movies.

Storyline; A playschool instructor named Naina kidnaps 16 children. Her demands rattle the authorities and the ruling class, shocking the entire nation.

On February 17, 2022, Disney+ Hotstar hosted the movie’s world premiere.
