FIFA To Give Members $150 Million

FIFA announced to provide $150 Million to its member football associations to minimize financial troubles caused by Coronavirus, Dipto Paul reports.

The global governing body of FIFA announced last Friday that: “All operational funding for 2019 and 2020 would be distributed amongst the 211 member associations in the next few days.”

They also announced that each national governing body will receive $500,000 but they have to fulfill some specific criteria. According to FIFA president Gianni Infantino: “The funds were the first step of a far-reaching financial relief plan we are developing to respond to the emergency across the whole football community”.

He added: “It is FIFA’s duty to be there and support the ones that are facing acute needs. This starts by providing immediate financial assistance to our member associations, many of which are experiencing severe financial distress.”

The funds will be provided by Forward 2.0 program, which was launched back in 2016. It will further provide $1.746 billion in total over the 2019-2022 periods.

Any further details of the procedure have not been announced by FIFA yet.
