The mayor of London, Sadiq Khan said that the strict measures are taken based on, “expert public-health and scientific advice about what is necessary to save lives”. He also stresses for extra financial support from the government.

The restrictions on household mixing indoors will financially hit over 3000 pubs and 7000 restaurants in London alone. Labour party MPs voices concerns for jobs and businesses who have already been struggling and who are eligible to get support from the government.

The Prime Minister, Boris Johnson said that he is working to look into the different problems that can arise from these restrictions and wishes to avoid the “misery of another national lockdown.”
