“The concept for my collection came from ballet. I was inspired by Edgar Degas’s
paintings of ballerinas and fell in love with the colour combinations in the
paintings. I discovered that ballet evolved as a form of dance during the Italian
Renaissance period, which introduced me to Botticelli’s artwork. This led my
collection in a feminine, sensual and romantic direction, encapsulating the
simplicity of the 1930s, with a particular focus on lingerie and nightwear. My final
design used a muted and feminine colour palette, with design elements that
included floral embroidered and nude tulles, baby pink satin, pink ribbon, pink
and gold sequin trim, and textured tweed.”
