Emmys 2021: Full List Of Winners

The 73rd Primetime Emmy Awards honor the best in U.S. prime time television programming from June 1, 2020, to May 31, 2021. The nominations were announced on July 13, 2021, by Ron and Jasmine Cephas Jones via a virtual event.

Ted Lasso is the most-nominated freshman comedy series with 20 nominations. The Crown won all seven drama categories, becoming the first show to sweep the major drama categories. Mj Rodriguez became the first-ever transgender person nominated for a major acting Emmy Award.

Unlike last year’s primarily virtual celebration, which was forced by the Covid-19 outbreak, this year’s ceremony was held in person at Event Deck in L.A. In person, in Los Angeles. The live ceremony was hosted by Cedric Antonio Kyles, better known by his stage name Cedric the Entertainer, an actor and comedian.

The Netflix drama was tied with The Mandalorian for most-nominated drama series. Olivia Colman and Josh O’Connor won Lead Actress and Lead Actor in a trio of categories. Gillian Anderson and Tobias Menzies nabbed writing and directing statuettes. Including wins at the Creative Arts Emmys, The Crown tallied 11 wins.

British actress Kate Winslet claimed the Lead Actress prize in the Limited Series category. London-born multi-hyphenate Michaela Coel scored a writing Emmy for her work on I May Destroy You. And another Brit, Ewan McGregor, scored a surprise win in the Lead Actor in a limited series category.

The Creative Arts Emmys were hosted by Cedric the Entertainer this year. The show was a change from last year’s mostly Zoom affair. In the Outstanding Comedy category, HBO’s Max comedy Hacks won. In the Lead Actress category, Jean Smart and Hannah Einbinder starred.

RuPaul’s Drag Race won an Emmy for Outstanding Competition Program for the fourth time in a row. The Queen’s Gambit took home the prize for limited series, while Hamilton took home the win for variety special. Despite the fact that this year’s pool of nominations was the most varied to date, white actors won all of the main acting honors.
