Electronic Arts Donates $1 Million to Fight Racial Injustice

American video game company EA has announced that they are going to donate $1 Million to various organizations and charities in support of Black Lives Matter. Puza Snigdha reports.

Electronic Arts CEO, Andrew Wilson, outlined their long-term plan to fight for racial justice both within its own company structures and across the United States and also few other steps in order to “drive meaningful change”.

In a statement, Wilson said: “There is deep-rooted discrimination that is still unquestionably present towards the African-American / Black community, and it is unacceptable. Racism should not exist in our society. We stand with all of our African-American / Black colleagues and partners, families and friends, and everyone around the world who is ready to see it end”.

Wilson added that the company would be donating $1 million to “organizations dedicated to the fight for racial justice in the US and against discrimination around the world”, starting with The Equal Justice Initiative and NAACP Legal & Defense Educational Fund.

According to Wilson’s announcement the company is going to have a meeting on 9th of June where they can discuss their thoughts, plan and what else could be done ending racial injustice.

EA employees will now have the opportunity to take an additional paid day each year to volunteer for a cause of their choice.

“I look forward to seeing and hearing from many of you about your thoughts and feelings on these issues, what we can do in our community at Electronic Arts, and where we must focus our efforts to make an impact fighting bias, discrimination and injustice in today’s world,” Wilson wrote.
