Eight killed at FedEx facility in Indianapolis

On Friday, eight people were shot dead at a FedEx facility in Indianapolis. Police reported that the suspected gunman killed himself after committing this gruesome massacre. Anika Khan reports.

Four more people were injured in the incident who were sent to the local hospitals for treatment.  Two injured were treated at the scene and released.

Police spokesperson, Genae Cook said, “we’re still trying to ascertain the exact reason and cause for this incident”.

Indianapolis deputy chief of investigations, Craig McCartt added, “we’re working with families. We have a reunification center right now that’s up and running at a nearby hotel.”

The family members of the employees working at the FedEx facility complained that the staff was not allowed to keep their phones while working, which made it difficult to call for help or contact them.

The Indianapolis mayor, Joe Hogsett, took to twitter and wrote:

The incident took place a week after Joe Biden announced a half-dozen executive actions to combat gun violence in America. Gun violence has been a prominent problem in the country and rapid plans need to be carried out to stop this violence.

The Indianapolis shooting was the latest string of mass killings across the US in recent months. An epidemic and an international embarrassment of a nation that continues to fail to control gun violence.
