‘Ecospree 19’: Social Awareness Campaign to Save Mother Nature

Climate Change is the most discussed issue of our time and we are at a defining moment. From shifting weather patterns that threaten food production, to rising sea levels that increase the risk of catastrophic flooding, the impacts of climate change are global in scope and unprecedented in scale.
Without strong actions today, adapting to these impacts in the future will be more difficult and costly.
Planting more and more trees is one of the first and foremost actions for human beings to reduce these impacts of climate change.
But it is a matter of regret that over 55,600 trees are dying every minute in our world and the number is increasing day by day.

For raising awareness to plant more trees, BITS, which is a social community service organization based in Bangladesh, organized a social awareness campaign named ‘Ecospree 19’ in the capital last Friday.

They arranged segments like Babyspree: Designed for encouraging and entertaining young kids to plant trees. Photo and short film exhibition for the students and Green Talk segments where they invite various Bangladeshi celebrities as guests for delivering the ‘tree plantation’ message to the youth.

Among the guests, famous scientist, Dr. Mubarak Ahmad Khan who invented the ecofriendly polybag from jute, Bangladeshi cartoonist Morshed Mishu, Presenter and model Jannatul Ferdoush Peya with Maria Nur Rowshon, famous musician of Bangladesh Topu with many other celebrities were present at the Campaign.

Students from several schools and universities along with their parents, general public and journalists were also present.
Dr. Mubarak Ahmad Khan displayed his great invention ‘ecofriendly polybag’ towards the audience and shared the advantage of his invented polybag also.

“this jute made polybag is totally Deciduous and Soluble. It will not damage our environment because there is no polymer used in it. It is 100% ecofriendly”, said Dr. Mubarak.
Sadman Sadik, famous Social Media Content Creator of Bangladesh said, “papers and books are made from trees. Can you imagine how many trees are cut down for this?”
“If we can transform our reading and writing habit from print to digitalize version, we can save more trees”, he added.
Organizers believe, to motivate the younger generation and to raise awareness, celebrities and scientists will be playing a vital role.

Hashmi, a university student said, “This is the time to step forward. We all should plant trees to save our nature. I will plant 5 trees in my next birthday”.
According to the organizer, a major portion of money collected through this event will be used for tree plantation and they also promise to organize more awareness campaign to save mother nature.
