While the preparation of UEFA Champions League final was set to start, the British pop singer Dua Lipa took the stage to perform in the celebration of the League’s Opening Ceremony in Ukraine on Saturday.
The London-born pop sensation opened the show with recent hit single ‘One Kiss,’ before Sean Paul took to the pitch to perform ‘No Lie’. Along with troop dancers, Dua finished her set with ‘Be The One,’ and ‘New Rules’.
The final took place at NSC Olimpiyskiy Stadium in Kiev, Ukraine, and the match saw Real Madrid beat Liverpool 3-1, with Gareth Bale coming off the bench to score two goals.
“We are excited to welcome Dua Lipa to Kyiv,” said UEFA’s Marketing Director Guy-Laurent Epstein in a statement. “Her energy will provide the crowd with the perfect performance just moments before the ultimate match in European club football kicks off”.
The star recently showed support for her LGBTQ fans ahead of Pride month in June and also responded to rumours that she’s recording the next James Bond theme tune.
“I was honored to be asked by the UEFA and Pepsi to perform at the ceremony,” Lipa said in a statement when she was being asked to perform, “It’s a once in a lifetime opportunity… I’m planning to put on an unforgettable show”.
