Disney Star Joshua Rush Comes Out As Bisexual

American actor Joshua Rush, who started his career as a child actor, has come out as bisexual and opened up to his followers in a series of tweets this week.
The star tweeted several posts on Tuesday saying that he identifies as a “proud bisexual man” and how it had been difficult for him to go public about his sexuality.
He added that he suffered from “internalized homophobia” that led to an “existential crisis,” but now, “I release it into the world.”
He announced the news by tweeting that the first person to respond is bi, before immediately responding himself with, “first! i win! it’s me. i’m bi. And now that I’ve said that, I have a few things to rant about. There are more important things to talk about than me like a whole bunch of genders, but I do want to share a few things with you guys.”
The 17-year-old star plays a gay character, Cyrus, on Disney Channel series ‘Andi Mack’, which is the TV network’s first LGBTQ character.
Rush made waves among his fans and received a positive response from them which he said made him feel happy and fearless. Fans tweeted their support and Rush responded to them.
Amit Paley, CEO and executive director of The Trevor Project, said: “It can mean so much to young LGBTQ people to see their sexual orientation and gender identity portrayed in media and Hollywood, especially if they aren’t able to safely express themselves. We’re grateful to Joshua Rush for showing his fans that he supports them and that they are perfect and beautiful the way they are.”
Rush encouraged his fans to read up on bisexuality on the GLAAD website and to donate to the Trevor Project, which fights LGBTQ youth suicide.
